Herns says: “In 2007 the mint introduced a competition to invite designs for the 2008 VREDEFORT DOME coin. Three designs (I think) were shortlisted and these patterns were struck from which the winning design was chosen and subsequently issued in 2008. They sell for R150” Hern’s 2023 Handbook page 458.
Winning bidder will get all 4 NGC Graded Coins. We sold the first set of the 3 x pattern coins for R15,500 (Cape Town Coin Fair Auction: Sale # 60 lot: 21). This set is much better as has the 1/4 oz gold 24 carat included.
